ART VITAL x Slavsocks Marina Abramović & Ulay

Slavsocks became part of ART VITAL -12 Years of Ulay / Marina Abramović, a major exhibition at Cukrarna Gallery in Ljubljana dedicated to one of the most influential partnerships in performance art.

The exhibition explores the twelve years between 1976 and 1988 in which Marina Abramović and Ulay shared not only an artistic practice, but a radical way of living and creating. Their work challenged the limits of the body, endurance, identity and human relationships, while their nomadic lifestyle became inseparable from their artistic practice.

At the centre of this philosophy was Art Vital, a manifesto built around ideas such as permanent movement, direct contact, passing limitations, taking risks and mobile energy.

For the exhibition, Cukrarna and Slavsocks created a special edition of ART VITAL socks, transforming two lines from the manifesto into wearable pieces: PERMANENT MOVEMENT on white socks and TAKING RISKS on black.

The collaboration also references one of the most legendary moments in Abramović and Ulay's story: their 1988 journey along the Great Wall of China, where they walked thousands of kilometres from opposite ends before meeting in the middle.

For Slavsocks, the collaboration feels especially close to the brand's own philosophy. Movement, risk and challenging established ideas have always been part of its approach to design and culture.

With every step, we are taking risks and staying in permanent movement.

The limited ART VITAL x Slavsocks socks were created as part of the official ART VITAL collection and are available through Cukrarna Gallery.
